Welcome to Guitar Heat Lessons- I hope you have a good time RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
One of the most common question that people ask is,how should i build speed. Now this is a question with multiple answers,as there is no one way to build speed. One should also realize that building speed may take up years of hard practise.Ill tell you a few ways that can help you start:
1)Using a Metronome-One of the best ways to build speed, play slow and then go on to faster speeds. Start by playing whole notes, then crochets, semi crochets and so on, per beat. Also dont stop playin until you have mastered that perticular speed. Also start playing scales using a metronome and see the difference.
2)Play Scales-play the same scales over and over again. One must not stop in between in this process and should aim at playing a perticular thing for atleast 5 mins without stopping,be it whatever speed.
3)Songs and Licks-These are fun to play and help devolup some skills that you will take months to master otherwise. So always play a lot of Songs and Licks.
4)Playing the same notes at altering speed.Say for example i play 3 notes(be any) and i start playing them slow, then slowly in between for a few secs i give it a thrust and then slow down again. You should not stop playing in between.
5)Arpeggios-These are 3 notes that i play of a major or minor scale, over two different octaves.Using sweeping technique over here will help you devolup speed ie playing the notes as you play a chord in one single motion.
6)Using Alternate and Economy picking together. One must first master alternate picking and only then go for wrong picking. If you are able to master them it will be like icing on cake,as it will be of great asset to you in future.

I will add many lessons on scales, arpeggios, modes, chords in upcoming articles,so dont miss them. Also please add your comments as in what you think and if you have anything to add.
